What is tourist accommodation classification system?
The classification system is related to tourist accommodations (hotels and furnished apartments), both new and existing. Specifically, in FEK B 10 / 01.09.2015 are been included technical and functional specifications and-rated criteria for classifying them into categories of stars and keys respectively. Responsible party and owner of the scheme for issue of hotel classification certificates and Rented furnished rooms – apartments in categories stars and keys respectively are the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels (XEE).
What is the ranking process?
Condition for the validity of the Special Operation Sign of a tourist accommodation is to obtain the Certificate of Classification, which is administered by the Hotel Chamber of Greece upon request from the company. The company selects Accredited Inspection and Certification Body, which contucts the technical report after the site inspection. The report lists the mandatory standards and criteria-rated met by the business and the number of points obtained by the company from their application, and ensures class star or keys respectively. The technical report is filed on Hotel Chamber of Greece with the business owner responsibility and the department of Hotel Chamber of Greece issues the facility classification certificate in accordance with the technical report. The company shall submit the classification certificate to the corresponding tourism service within twenty (20) days from the date of issue, otherwise the Special Signal Operation of business is been revoked.

4.3. The Special Operation Signals issued under previously applicable classification system automatically cease to be valid on 31.12.2017. Until that date, all rented furnished room-apartment facilities must have a classification certificate in accordance with the provisions of this Decision and to equip themselves with Special Operation Signals issued under that classification certificate.
4.4. For classification in accordance with the above subparagraph existing on entry into force of this all rented furnished room-apartment businesses in categories key to paragraph 2 of Article 1 the technical requirements are not tested, but only the mandatory functional requirements and the concentration under the points criteria of minimum number molecules required for each category. For the purposes of this subparagraph, the term technical specification means specified in Article 3 plot / pitch or building standards as well as the criteria described as A / A 1-9 in Appendix A.
4.5. All rented furnished room-apartment facilities which by the entry into force of this offer Special Signal Operation (ESA) class one (1) are been clasified as key class two (2) keys, applied to the remaining of the provisions of the above sub-paragraphs 4.3. and 4.4."
